Ware Lab
We have a tour set up with a start time of 1:30pm at the Ware Lab. The tour will last about 45 minutes depending on questions and interactions with the various students and their team projects. We can take 20 per tour and we will host 2 tours if the demand is there. The first starting at 1:30 pm and the second at 2:30pm.
Description: The Ware Lab houses undergraduate design projects in the College of Engineering where students sharpen theoretical and computational skills learned in the classroom by working on challenging, viable engineering projects. A “hands-on, minds-on” approach has led to a tradition of success for Virginia Tech engineering students — in the classroom, as members of award winning competition. More than 450 students, some receiving academic credit and others serving as volunteers, participate as early as their freshman year.

Description: The VT Helmet Lab is a comprehensive Injury Biomechanics Laboratory founded in 2007 with a specialty for studying brain injury and sport helmets. Since 2011, Virginia Tech researchers have been providing unbiased helmet ratings that allow consumers to make informed decisions when purchasing helmets. The helmet ratings are the culmination of over 10 years of research on head impacts in sports and identify which helmets best reduce concussion risk.
