September Newsletter
Brothers,
Hope everyone had a wonderful summer break and is ready for some Hokie Football!
In case you missed out on the Georgia Tech game, the active chapter collaborated with Sigma Phi Epsilon and held our most successful tailgate that I have seen since I pledged at Eta Lambda.
In this edition of the Alumni Newsletter I want to highlight a few of our brothers accomplishments and excursions that occurred this past summer.
When I asked newly initiated brother, Ian Simmons about his summer he told me this, “This summer I was approached by Benedictine High School, where I attended, with the opportunity to paint a few commissioned oil portraits. The school is changing locations and I was lucky enough to be able to leave my mark. I was asked to remake one of Carravagio’s Masterpieces “Supper at Emmaus” and one of Titian’s pieces “Equestrian Portrait of Charles V”. The two pieces took me a total of 132 hours. I will be doing a third piece for the school during winter break. I was also commissioned for another piece this summer in the style of famous artist Jackson Pollock.” If that’s not different temperaments, talents and convictions I don’t know what is.
Pro Consul Mark Cecchini interned in Chicago for a Financial Planning/Investment Advisory Firm.
I interviewed Junior Sean Cooper on his experience at Horizons and this is what he had to say about his experience, “This summer I was fortunate enough to be selected to attend Sigma Chi’s 2012 Horizons retreat at Snowbird Utah. The Horizons program was an eye-opening experience that challenged my character and strengthened my leadership abilities. Being able to meet brothers from chapters all over North America gave me an incredible opportunity to exchange ideas and learn from other chapters. I forged strong friendships and was able to meet and talk with some of Sigma Chi’s most elite leaders such as our national pro consul Michael Greenberg. The Horizons program is a powerful experience that provided me with valuable lessons and ideas that I could not wait to bring back to my own chapter and brothers.”
