Dear Eta Lambda Brothers, Sweethearts, Wives, Significant Others, and Friends,
Please mark your calendar now, 52 weekends from this past one, for the Chapter’s 50th Anniversary Celebration to be held at The Inn at VT in Blacksburg. We have secured our banquet space and reserved a room block meaning this event needs to go on your calendar now!
Even though we no longer have a Charter or Chapter House, the 50th is an important milestone and an opportunity to see old friends and meet some new ones, while celebrating the past, all in beautiful Blacksburg in the Springtime! (see tentative schedule of events below)
In addition, we need your presence and input in developing a plan to restore the Chapter within VT IFC, when our suspension ends in 2023.
- This is an important mission for all of us so that the children of Eta Lambda Brothers and many others, can form the bonds of Brotherhood, learn the same values, and experience the great memories that multiple generations of Eta Lambda Brothers & Sweethearts have all enjoyed!
With this goal in mind, please spread the word to your Pledge Brothers, Brothers from your era, and Sweethearts about next year’s event. Let’s make it the most well attended anniversary celebration yet!
- To make sure you are receiving the latest information on our event, please ask all Brothers to join the Facebook group, Sigma Chi Fraternity Eta Lambda Chapter Alumni, and also go to sigmachivt.org to either register your email address or to make sure it is up to date, especially if you no longer use your @vt.edu address. If you receive periodic emails from “Ben Runkle” you are all set!
A limited number of rooms may still be available at The Inn at VT, so give them a call at 540.231.8000, and mention Sigma Chi Alumni to receive our special rate.
- The Hyatt Place (540.552.7500) and Residence Inn (540.750.4400) are directly across the street, but they won’t commit to a room block this far in advance.
Friday 4/8/22
- First Annual Eta Lambda Co-Ed Golf Tournament
- Pub Crawl for those non golfers
- Welcoming Party
Saturday 4/9/22
- Brotherhood Memorial Event on Saturday morning & Chapter Restoration Discussion
- Lunch provided at a large popular Blacksburg establishment
- Sweetheart Reception followed by 50th Anniversary Celebration
- Heavy hor d’oeuvres (no sit-down dinner) and dancing
- Special Event – Induction of Brothers Nominated and Selected to the Inaugural Class of the Eta Lambda Hall of Fame – Send your nominations to The Committee at ebreweriii@aol.com by 12/31/21.
Sunday 4/10/22
- Self-guided tour of all of your favorite Blacksburg establishments
Event registration will begin in Mid-Fall 2021.
